Integrated Power Management System for Zero-energy building: Techno-Economic Analysis

Authors

Abstract:

A complete understanding of the limits, barriers, and equipment available for the use of national energy resources is essential. This will increase the use of existing regional energy potential and pave the way for sustainable development. In this study, the Green Cottage power management system from a renewable energy source was designed and evaluated using a decision-making algorithm. Thirteen scenarios were extracted to Zero-energy building. The results show: If the penetration of renewable energy is 24% with an average daily fossil fuel consumption of 1.11 liters per year, the energy produced by the Hybrid renewable energy systems (HRES) is equal to 1697 kWh / yr and the net present value (NPV) is $ 5553.68 and the Internal rate of return (IRR) equals 21.49% with a payback period (PP) of 15.71 years. With the increase of renewable energy penetration to 54%, fossil fuel consumption became 0.694 liters and the annual production energy was equal to 1652 kWh / yr and the NPV was 19.5% with a PP of 17.61 years. Zero-energy building Energy Management with 100% renewable energy penetration, 1933 kWh / yr per year without emissions of environmental pollutants, and the NPV equal to -372.09 dollars. From the point of view of energy policy, if the feed-in tariff of renewable energy increases to more than $ 0.06, the implementation of this scenario will be economic.

A Multi-Scenario Zero-Energy Building Techno-Economic Case Study Analysis for a Renovation of a Residential Building

According to the previous pieces of research, the building sector consumes about 40 % of total yield energy and produce one-third of GHG pollution emission. This point shows the significant potential in two aspects of energy optimization and pollution reduction in this field. The purpose of this research as a case study is to construct a residential building and develop the paths for reaching a...

Grid-price-dependent Energy Management of a Building Supplied by a Multisource System Integrated with Hydrogen

This paper studies power management in a grid-tied hybrid energy system consisting of photovoltaic array, wind turbine, fuel cell, electrolyzer, hydrogen storage tank and a combinational heating system to supply the thermal and electrical demand of a building. Moreover, the hybrid system is capable of exchanging power with local grid. Thus, variable daily buying and selling tariffs are also tak...

Analysis and Optimization using Renewable Energies to Get Net-Zero Energy Building for Warm Climate

Due to low energy price, economic optimization of consumption has no justification for users in Iran. Nowadays, the issue of ending fossil fuels, production of greenhouse gases and the main role of building in consumption of considerable amount of energy has drawn the focus of global researches to a new concept called net zero energy building. In this study, modeling, simulation and energy anal...

Techno-Economic Analysis of Different Energy Storage Technologies

Overall structure of electrical power system is in the process of changing. For incremental growth, it is moving away from fossil fuels major source of energy in the world today to renewable energy resources that are more environmentally friendly and sustainable [1]. Factors forcing these considerations are (a) the increasing demand for electric power by both developed and developing countries,...

Intelligent pollution management in an integrated energy system

Energy carriers are addressed today as one of the main pillars of energy generation due to the increased growth of industries in developed and developing countries. According to the global view, increased consumption of energy carriers is causing an increase in the production of greenhouse gases, the global average temperature, and this, in turn, results in the quicker melting of ice in Antarct...
